Giuseppe Salerno is born and raised in Torino, he got in touch with calligraphy since he was young studying Cancelleresca. He has been in the design / creative field for over 14 years and he lived in different cities like Berlin, Madrid and Valencia. Since 2008 Giuseppe Salerno is in charge of Resistenza, the design studio he co-founded with Paco González, their most distinguished style characteristics are brushy types, calligraphic strokes and originality in typefaces. Giuseppe uses calligraphy as a hand-drawn method for script typefaces.
In 2013 he runs CalligraphyInBerlin.com and several workshops about Copperplate Hand and Brush Pen in Berlin and in other European cities.
“Calligraphy is the mixture of all kinds of art. There is a lot going in on in this art form. There is math, geometry, spacing, expressionism, feelings, rules, composition, paper, dirtiness, mess and order.”
